Lickey Concert and Tree Lighting – 27 November 2022
A wonderful Parish Council concert included the Blackwell Concert Band and the Lickey Hills Primary School Choir entertaining a packed Holy Trinity church with MC Cllr. Bakul Kumar. Santa presented competition prizes and held a special festive quiz!

Blackwell Tree Lighting – 27 November 2022
Following the singing, the Parish Council Christmas tree lights were turned on by Santa with a little help from local residents, especially the children

Lickey Remembrance – 13 November 2022
Led by Revd. Sheri Gidney, she is joined by the local PC Chair Cllr. Bakul Kumar. Brownies, Beavers, Guides and Cubs in attendance.

Alvechurch Mop Fair – 5 October 2022
The annual fair rolled into the village very early on a Wednesday morning, entertained the local with rides and lights and candy floss – then evaporated into the nigh after closing at 9pm. Nest stop was a tow-day visit to Tewkesbury.

Rednal Hill clear-up – 17 September 2022
Following the devastating July fire, the bilberry is making a comeback. Volunteers, TLHS members & supporters of the Lickey Hills Country Park gave Ranger Penny Marriott a hand in removing unwanted growth. Some three acres were covered and much debris binned.

Blackwell Music Festival – 10 September 2022
Live music lovers were out in force for BMF ’22. Seven performances, a larger stage and undercover area plus inflatables, beer tent, food vendors and some stress-relieaving boxing! Emma and her dedicated team of volunteers produced yet another great show.

The Bishop of Boliva visits Lickey – 15 August 2022
The Revd. Sheri Gidney played host inviting the new bishop to The Holy Trinity Church in Lickey. He and his wife were made most welcome enjoying a specially prepared lunch by members of the congregation.

Bilberry Wake, Country Park – 10 July 2022
What do you get if you add a stick + sock + hay + some wool + pair of eyes? A hobby horse to race around a specially prepared track by Ranger Dave! Organised by The Lickey Hills Society, children of all ages once again enjoyed a fun-filled event in glorious sunshine.

Blackwell First School Summer fair – 2 July 2022
Parent, grandparents and children braved to occasional inclement weather to enjoy this year’s Summer Fair. Spread over the playground and the recreational field, volunteers and staff raised funds for the school.

Balsam Bash, Country Park – 25 June 2022
The first of two 2022 ‘bashes’ to control the Himalayan Balsham within the Park. TLHS members & volunteers had a lovely afternoon pulling and trampling the invasive plant, brought to our shores in the 1830s, before the seed heads ‘exploded’

GlastonBeoley Music Festival – 19 June 2022
A weekend event hosted at the ‘Bees’ Rugby Club, Portway and originated by local singer-songwriter Debbie Joyner. She books 50 bands and performers this year to raise money for charities.

Alvechurch ‘Party in the Park’ – 3 June 2022
The organisers surpassed themselves with a record number of stalls, activities, entertainment and visitors at The Meadows venue. Opening the event was Gordon Mercia (97) who flew Halifax bombers in WWII. Also, the Lancaster bomber, which made three flypasts.

Jubilee at Beacon Hill, Lickey – 2 June 2022
Lickey joined the chain of beacons across the country to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Organised by The Lickey Hills Society and funded by Cllr. Adrain Kriss, a mobile beacon lit the nights sky.

Jubilee at Holy Trinity Church – 2 June 2022
An exhibition of Queen’s Coronation memorabilia and activities were on offer. The WI ladies were on hand offering baked delights including a special courgette cake! Surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting, including Revd. Sherri Gidney, Jean Whitehead was Queen for the day!

Bittell Pools Open Day – 14 May 2022
A glorious Saturday in mid-May saw the Sailing Club, the twitchers and other groups who use this wonderful location invite the public to join. Even two CPSOs were on hand to throw members into the back of the Paddy Wagon!

Gateway Boards launch – 24 April 2022
New information boards were unveiled at four principal entry point to the Park by special guest and members of The Lickey Hills Society.

Pride of Longbridge – 23 April 2022
Returning to Cofton Park after a two year enforced holiday, hundreds of cars – many from the plant opposite – were lovingly displayed in the park. Great day for peering, dreaming, chatting and getting the spring sunshine on your back.

Wassail – 15 January 2022
Back with a bang with over 150 revellers enjoying the warmed apple drink, fairy lights, singing and generally making a noise to scare off the devil! Oh, and the mummers play….
